Renaissance Fair this weekend at Memorial Park in Blackwell

March 26, 2025

The Gem of the Chikaskia Renaissance Fair is set to return bigger and better in 2025, bringing two full days of medieval magic, entertainment, and immersive fun to Kay County on March 29 and 30 at the Blackwell Memorial Park across from the high school off of Main Street.

Building upon last year’s success, which saw over 800 attendees in a single day, the festival is doubling in size, promising even more thrilling performances, interactive experiences, and festive excitement for all ages.
"We have quickly become like family with a lot of these performers, and so many of them are contributing to the event and helping us make it even better this year!" said Nikki Barnes, the Committee Director for the festival.
This year’s entertainment lineup boasts a mix of returning fan favorites and exciting new acts. Attendees can once again enjoy awe-inspiring performances from Regalia International Birds of Prey, the sword-wielding warriors of Tulsa Free Company, the gravity-defying Twistina the Acrobat, the mischievous Vladimir the Troll, and lively musical performances by Black Oak Shillelagh and Einini. The Pirates will also be back to bring their high-seas antics to the fairgrounds.
New additions to the lineup include Jousting For All, an exhilarating display of medieval combat on horseback. The Jester Rejects will entertain with comedy and juggling, while Lady Josephine of Westfahl will offer insight into the finer points of Renaissance etiquette. Also making their debut are Privy the Pond Troll, a delightful character who will engage with the crowd, the renowned festival performer Ezndil, and the enchanting mermaids of 7 Fathoms Entertainment.
For the first time, the fair will also host a costume contest each day, with Vladimir the Troll playing a key role in judging and organizing. "We are also adding a costume contest for each day. Vladimir, the troll, will be assisting in judging and arranging!" Barnes shared.
In addition to the expanded entertainment lineup, the festival will introduce a more immersive storyline this year. "Last year we had a king and queen, but we didn't play very much off of that aspect. This year, the king and queen will be involved with the jousting and several other activities. There might even be a little skit, including them on each day. A little storyline to go with the festival, if you will," Barnes explained.
With its rapid growth and enthusiastic community support, the Gem of the Chikaskia Renaissance Fair is quickly becoming a staple event in Blackwell. Whether you come to witness daring jousts, marvel at skilled acrobats, or simply enjoy the festive atmosphere, this year’s fair promises to transport visitors to a world of medieval wonder.
Mark your calendars and don your finest Renaissance attire—the kingdom awaits!
