David Kent Corneil of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the age of 69 years.
David Kent Corneil was born on August 24, 1956, in Blackwell. He was the son of Eugene and Hazel (Stanley) Corneil. He grew up in Blackwell, attending Blackwell Public Schools, and graduating with the Blackwell High School class of 1975. Following his education, he helped out on the farm, raising cattle while working with Ed Urban and Jack Rogers. On November 2, 1977, he began working for the BNSF Railroad.
He married Stacey Dawn Chambers on May 27, 1977, in Blackwell, where they made their home. After almost 40 years, he retired from the railroad on August 1, 2016. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard (for which he was awarded “Yard of the Week” three different times). He also enjoyed fishing, OU football, attending the rodeo, and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Glenda Urban and Connie Finley.
He is survived by his wife, Stacey D. Corneil of Blackwell; one son, Ty Corneil and wife Stacey of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one daughter, Mindi LaBlue and husband Terry “Gooch” of Cashion, Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Madison Corneil, Hadleigh Corneil, Jakob LaBlue, Grace LaBlue, and Lillie LaBlue; one sister, Joan Corneil; two brothers-in-law; Gary Finley of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Ed Urban of Blackwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Mike Devorak officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s honor to the First Presbyterian Church in care of Roberts and Son Funeral Home
