Blackwell Public Library Announces $1 Bag Fiction Book Sale
April 08, 2026
The Blackwell Public Library is inviting the community to take advantage of a deeply discounted book sale beginning Monday, April 6, offering readers the chance to fill a bag with books for just $1.
The sale is part of the library’s ongoing effort to make room for new materials while raising funds to support programs and services. All proceeds from the event will go directly back into the library.
A wide selection of titles will be available, featuring works from popular authors such as Stephen King, James Patterson, Danielle Steel, John Grisham and David Baldacci, among many others. Readers can expect to find a variety of genres, including thrillers, romance, science fiction, horror, drama and action-adventure.
This sale is the latest to come from the Library who previously weeded hundreds of YA and Middle Grade titles to make room on the shelves for new books.
“Weeding is an integral and necessary part of any library’s life cycle,” said Director of Operations Talyn Spence, “it is done to clear out titles that have not moved in several years, or ever, as we continue to acquire new books for our patrons every month.”

Library officials encourage patrons to arrive early and bring a bag, as the sale will continue only while supplies last.
Next, the Blackwell Public Library plans to weed their nonfiction and, in the near-future, their children's picture books.
