Wheatheart Nutrition Project Highlights Outreach Program for Area Seniors

April 09, 2026

The Wheatheart Nutrition Project is continuing its efforts to support senior citizens across northern Oklahoma through its Outreach Program, an initiative designed to help older adults maintain independence and improve quality of life while remaining in their homes.
The program provides a wide range of services at no cost to eligible seniors, including access to the organization’s established nutrition program, as well as assistance with handicap ramp installation, eye exams and glasses, medical supplies, and prescription medications.
In addition to these services, the Outreach Program connects seniors with other vital resources such as transportation, housing assistance, food programs, the Advantage Waiver Program, legal aid, discounted dental services, mental health support, and community support groups. Staff also provide guidance on navigating additional programs and services that may benefit participants.
The program serves seniors in a multi-county area, including Alfalfa, Blaine, Garfield, Grant, Kingfisher, Noble, Major, and Kay counties.
Organizers emphasize that the Outreach Program is confidential, stress-free, and designed to remove barriers that often prevent seniors from seeking assistance.
Local residents interested in learning more or enrolling in the program can contact Outreach Specialist Terri Dains at the Wheatheart Nutrition Project office, located at 114 North Main Street in Blackwell. She can be reached by phone at 580-262-0303 or by email at trains.outreachwhn@gmail.com
.
Officials say the program remains a vital resource for area seniors, helping ensure they have access to the services and support needed to live safely and comfortably at home.
